UAE celebrates Chinese Year of the Monkey
Dubai’s Burj al Arab was just one of the venues in the UAE to celebrate the onset of the Chinese lunar Year of the Monkey with a spectacular lighting display across its façade.
Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi also decorated parts of its interior to mark the event.
The coming weeks are also going to see a number of events to mark the festivities such as a traditional lion’s dance, martial art performances, dragon face painting and a lucky draw at a Chinese tree of wealth.
This month, Dubai’s tourist authority announced that 450,000 Chinese visitors travelled in 2015 to the emirate representing a 29% year on year increase – the largest from any country.
