The future of traditional designs set for debate at designMENA Summit
Is the UAE ready for the four R’s of architecture – renovation, restoration, retrofitting and refurbishment?
That is a major subject for debate at the designMENA Summit, which takes place this afternoon (Tuesday) at Grosvenor House in Dubai Marina.
Traditional designs and how they can be bought up to date, along with how best to reduce energy demands in the near future will form the core of the discussion, which will feature Maram Sherif of Lacasa and Jennifer Skaife of DiLeonardo.
The panel will also be looking at whether modern design has paid enough attention to social and cultural needs while also asking the question: “What are designers exploring with regard to refurbishment with a view to improving building performance?”
