The Founder’s Memorial features dynamic three-dimensional portrait of Sheikh Zayed

The Founder’s Memorial, a permanent national tribute commemorating the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, was inaugurated in an official ceremony in Abu Dhabi, Arabian Business reported.

The Founder’s Memorial features ‘The Constellation’, a monumental artwork that forms its centrepiece, and coincides with the national Year of Zayed initiative, marking 100 years since the birth of Sheikh Zayed.

‘The Constellation’ is located at the heart of the Memorial, created by artist Ralph Helmick, and depicts a dynamic three-dimensional portrait of Sheikh Zayed. The artwork offers multiple experiences based on various vantage points.

The installation is made up of more than 1,300 geometric shapes suspended on over 1,000 cables. At night, these shapes shine like stars, evoking the timelessness of Sheikh Zayed’s vision “as a guiding light for the UAE people.”

The ceremony took place at the site of The Founder’s Memorial, located on the Abu Dhabi Corniche.

Last year, the UAE also unveiled its first Memorial Park featuring an Idris Khan-designed aliminium memorial sculpture, celebrating martyred soldiers.
