Ted Jacobs Engineering wins Sustainable Project of the Year
Voted by our judges as the most environmentally sensitive project for 2016 was the Solar Innovation Centre by Ted Jacobs Engineering.
The judging panel felt that it “successfully combines sustainability with architecture within the framework of infrastructure”.
The centre forms the focal point for Dubai’s solar technologies and the facility will showcase the history, evolution and application of this sustainable source of energy, by means of workshops, conferences and exhibitions for students, professionals and the public.
Kenneth Wardlaw, associate at Ted Jacob Engineering Group, said: “DEWA’s project, The Solar Innovation Centre, is located next to the Mohammed bin Rashid Solar Park and it is going to be an icon in Dubai.
“Apart from being a LEED Platinum building, it comprises museum, auditoriums, and interactive exhibits, showing what DEWA can do for the country. The whole purpose of the project is not just about being LEED Platinum, it is about creating space where both children and adults can learn about sustainable energy.”
Gabriela Soto Conde, commercial and bids manager at Ted Jacob Engineering Group, added: “We are very proud of this award considering the competition in this category.”
