Sharjah hosts global electronic arts event
Maraya Art Centre, the visual arts hub in Sharjah, is hosting one of exhibitions of the 20th International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA) which is being staged across the UAE.
Focused on the theme “Location” it consists of 10 artworks from across the globe and includes “Oscillating Expedition” by Barnaby Priest and Janet Bellotto in conjunction with the Dubai Chamber Orchestra as well as Esteban Garcia Bravo and Maxwell Carlson’s “Chromatic Shifts” and “Plasmatic” by Andy Buchanan.
An annual new media-arts affair, ISEA is held in a different country each year and focuses on digital and interactive media and new technologies.
It brings together leading and emerging media thinkers and practitioners, artists, academics, and scientists working at the intersection of art, science and technology.
Centre manager Giuseppe Moscatello said: “Such international events aim at positioning the UAE on the international art map. Local artists will also be inspired by the electronic arts in their diverse forms and be encouraged to explore new ideas.”
