Judges labelled the project “a masterly design” and said that it showed true attention to innovative detail, creating “an abstract and fresh response to the sustainable needs of the modern era.”

Accepting the award was Firas Hnoosh, principal and design director of architecture of the Dubai Studio, who said, “We are delighted to be awarded in this category. It shows our commitment to working on projects that are not simply seen as commercial investments, but also serve the general public, especially in the healthcare sector.”

According to Hnoosh, Kings College is a very well-known and well-established healthcare provider in the UK, and the Dubai clinic is one of its first hospitals outside of the UK. “We are delighted to bring its culture and services to the Middle East, which was obviously a challenge.”

Highly commended in the category, which was presented by AbdelKader Saad, design principal at JT+Partners, was Godwin Austen Johnson for its Emirates International School. Judges said the project was “extremely worthwhile and welcoming”.
