LXA wins best Food & Beverage design award for Intersect by Lexus

This year’s Interior Design of the Year: Food & Beverage award went to LXA for its impressive work on Intersect by Lexus in Dubai.

Conceived in Tokyo by renowned designers Wonderwall and implemented locally by LXA, the Dubai International Financial Centre-based concept is described as “neither a dealership, nor a traditional retail space”, but rather a “third space” between home and work, where guests can experience the Lexus brand without getting behind the steering wheel. Ultimately, it is a space to communicate the Lexus brand; grandeur, sophistication and solace.

The judges praised the “very engaging space that draws you in, the dynamic façade and entry view”.

They also lauded the fact that the venue was a unique concept containing intriguing details and materials.

“A genuine spot for creatives,” said one judge.

“Exquisite detailing, intelligent planning and a challenging brief to marry F&B and retail,” said another judge.

Sarah-Jane Grant, director of LXA, said it was “fantastic” to win the award for what she described as “an exciting and inspirational project”.

“What is really exciting about this project is the collaboration of loads of different cultures, influences, food, and inspiration that has come together to create a really unique place that we are immensely proud of.”

Grant said that one of the highlights of the project was integrating Japanese culture into a Middle Eastern environment.

“The beauty of doing a project like this is that design does speak across all languages,” she said.
