Istanbul tower project handed to international firm
International architectural practice Swanke Hayden Connell has won the competition to design the 49,500m2 Palladium Tower in Istanbul for Tahincioglu Real Estate.
The central-cored office tower is situated on a 1.7ha site and is due for completion in 2014.
Each level includes a naturally ventilated landscaped atria and floor plates range between 900 and 1,100m2.
A two-storey reception lobby is situated beside a landscaped drop off area and is connected to meeting rooms, fitness, sauna, spa and cafeteria areas.
The use of horizontally-oriented coloured glass gives an uninterrupted panoramic views of the Bosphorous Sea.
Nick Birchall head of Swanke Hayden Connell’s Istanbul office, said: “The tower has been split by the landscaped atria zones into a composition of elegant stacked forms, working with orthogonal geometry to ensure floor plate efficiency and overall building economy.
“Façade colour adds interest and expression, whilst external illumination emphasises the building’s composition at night.”
