Harvard continues free online architecture course for 2018

The Harvard Graduate School of Design’s popular free online course, The Architectural Imagination, is continuing in 2018, offering everyone the opportunity to study the fundamentals of architecture from one of the world’s foremost design schools for free.

Led by professors Erika Naginski, Antoine Picon and K. Michael Hays, as well as PhD student Lisa Haber-Thomson, the 10-week course covers topics ranging from learning to “read” buildings as cultural expression to technical drawing and modeling exercises.

“Architecture is one of the most complexly negotiated and globally recognized cultural practices, both as an academic subject and a professional career,” the website says. “Its production involves all of the technical, aesthetic, political and economic issues at play within a given society. Over the course of [10] modules, we’ll examine some of history’s most important examples that show how architecture engages, mediates, and expresses a culture’s complex aspirations.”

While the course is free, students can receive a verified certificate of completion for an additional $99.
