Fit out work underway for ‘smart city’ Dubai Silicon Park project

Fit-out work at Silicon Park, Dubai’s first smart city project, is “well under way”, according to Al Shirawi Interiors.

In a statement, the company said that its scope includes the project’s business centre, serviced apartments, hotel, fitness centre, and public spaces in more than 19 buildings spread across its office, residential, and boutique building clusters.

The firm, which was awarded the contract in November 2017, revealed that is aims to hand over the project in Q4 2018.

Spanning 150,000m2, the mixed-use master-planned development is a project of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) and was designed by Design and Architecture Bureau, in line with the Dubai Government’s strategic direction on smart cities.

Al Shirawi noted that the project complies with the UAE’s green building regulations, as well as LEED standards.

Al Shirawi Interiors CEO Navin Valrani commented: “Dubai Silicon Oasis has been at the forefront of innovation, with its technologically advanced and integrated ecosystem.

Silicon Park is another visionary project by the entity and is poised to be the new gem amongst Dubai’s thriving business-centric communities.”

Construction work on Silicon Park is scheduled for completion in Q1 2019.

Once fully operational, the project is expected to feature smart systems, including charging-docks for smart devices on the street, smart pop-up furniture, and digital play tables, as well as optimally designed bus shelters, piazza shading, and electric vehicle charging stations.

London-based Design International- who has recently opened its Dubai office in d3– is also designing a ‘smart’ shopping mall in Dubai Silicon Oasis that features a double-skin facade and social sustainability.
