Design of Piano’s 620m Seoul tower released
Renderings of Renzo Piano’s 620m Landmark Tower in Seoul, the tallest building in the city’s audacious skyscraper district, have been released.
Designed for client Dreamhub, the tower will rise in the a 3.4million m2 Yongsan International Business District, masterplanned by Daniel Libeskind.
The district contains towers by the likes of Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill, SOM and Dominique Perrault.
Piano’s design contains two pairs of twin tubes rising up through the form, which spiral in opposite directions to provide strength against strong winds and seismic activity.
This double-helix bracing will also create a distinctive exterior aesthetic.
