CMC hospital in Beirut wins award for design
Clemenceau Medical Center (CMC), affiliated with Johns Hopkins International, designed by Khatib & Alami, was named one of “The 25 Most Beautiful Hospitals in the World” by HealthExecNews.com.
CMC was the only hospital in the Levant region that made the list.
“Hospital architecture and designs have transformed over time, from the once sterile white walls and stark decor to vibrant colours and eye-catching materials on the interior and exterior.
“We at CMC have designed a facility to include elements of functionality and design that have been proven to improve patient care,” said Dr. Mounes Kalaawi, chief executive officer, CMC hospital.
“We are extremely proud to be selected among top healthcare institutions in eleven countries around the world, including the United States, Austria, Thailand, Panama, Switzerland, China, and others for our distinguished designs,” he added.
This follows the “Best Sustainable Hospital Design Award” the hospital received in 2009 at the Hospital Build Exhibition.
Some interior features include a self-playing piano, high ceilings, vast lobbies, ergonomic furniture throughout the building (including patient rooms), colour and material co-ordination, and abundant natural lighting.
