Aidan Keane, founder of Keane Brands, dies aged 49
Design firm Keane Brands has just announced the death of its founder and creative director, Aidan Keane (49).
“The company is coming to terms with the unexpected and sad news. All who met Aidan were struck by his lust for life, boundless energy, creative passion and his addictively charismatic personality,” the company stated in a release.
Aidan Keane founded Keane Brands, along with his wife Louise and managing director, Jeremy Scarf in 1990. It quickly became an internationally renowned branding and design company with offices in London, Dubai, and Singapore.
Keane has been collaborating with Virgin, Emirates, Jumeirah, Intercontinental Hotels, Jack Daniels, Whitbread, Nandos, Costa and Greene King.
Helen El Mettouri, regional director at Keane’s Dubai office, commented: “It has been a privilege to have worked closely with Aidan and have been a part of the company’s vision over the past 15 years. It is indeed a sad and shocking time for us but we are very much thankful for his life and intend to take his light and passion forward with us to deliver on the big plans he had and the legacy he has left behind”
The team said that their founder was not a regular-route designer. He was a former DJ, promoter, owner and legendary club figure, explaining, in some way, why his vision for his clients and his industry was far wider and more exciting than most.
Keane recently turned his hand to TV presenting, fronting Channel 4’s Big House, Little House and he was currently filming a new design show, also for Channel 4.
“Aidan loved creating new concepts, designing spaces, and sharing his design passion with all he encountered. Keane Brands will continue to deliver Aidan’s unique and visionary design ethos and the managing team is committed to his legacy through their work,” the company stated.
Recently, CID talked to Helen El Mettouri, about the company’s latest hospitality projects. During the interview, El Mettouri said: “I am fortunate that Aidan Keane, the owner of Keane and our global managing director, Jeremy Scarf, have been supportive throughout my journey into motherhood.”
