Aconex Rob Phillpot to speak at BIM Breakfast

The second BIM Breakfast will take place on Tuesday September 16 at Dubai’s Ritz Carlton hotel with the latest advances in Business Information Modeling coming under expert analysis.

The subject is one which has become vital for design professionals working in Dubai following new regulations instigated by the emirate’s municipal authority.

The implementation of DM Circular 196 means a more rigid code of practice from the initial drawing up of designs through to a completed project must be adopted.

BIM acts as a digital representation of the physical and functional characteristics of a building. It also enables a virtual information model to be handed from the design team to the main contractor and any subcontractors and then on to the owner and the operator with each person adding their own specific expertise to the single-shared model.

Speaking at the upcoming event will be Rob Phillpot who is responsible for product vision, strategy and management, and serves on the Aconex board of directors.

He has been instrumental in developing the company’s business on a global scale

Before founding Aconex in 2000 with CEO Leigh Jasper, he managed document control, quality and trades on a site team at Brookfield Multiplex, a global contracting and development firm specialising in large-scale buildings, commercial structures and infrastructure projects.

It was Phillpot’s construction industry expertise – combined with Jasper’s consulting experience in e-commerce strategy at McKinsey – which created the Aconex Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform for collaborative project management. Prior to Brookfield Multiplex, Phillpot was an auditor at Deloitte & Touche.

He holds Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Planning and Design degrees with Honours and a Master of Building degree from the University of Melbourne.
