Maliha Nishat of design worldwide partnership has been crowned with the distinction of Interior Designer of the Year at the 2015 Commercial Interior Design Awards.
Described as a “clearly excellent leader”, the judges commented that Nishat’s “incredible designs and interior spaces represent the best of what the hospitality design industry has to offer.”
The judges also mentioned that “her astonishing portfolio of work that excites and inspires made her stand out from a very talented shortlist.”
Upon receiving the award, Nishat said: “It feels like a dream! It is an amazing honour to be shortlisted and I am very happy with that. It is great to be recognised that way.”
Nishat started her professional career in Dubai after obtaining a degree at The American University in Dubai in Interior Architecture in 2000. She quickly grew to specialise in hospitality design focusing on F&B in her early years. Nishat has since worked in Australia & HK on projects all over the world, cultivating a global outlook om hospitality design over her 15 years in the design realm.
Commenting on the judges’ decision, Nishat explained: “I’m sure that the judges have seen excellence in our design as we have spent a lot of time delivering creative and unique designs in every way possible. Hopefully, they saw all the hard work that went into all hospitality projects that we have worked on in past 12 months.”
The Interior Design of the Year award recognises a professional, forward-thinking individual, who consistently delivers original, intelligent and effective design solutions for their clients.
Highly commended for this category was George Kahler from Kahler Design who the judges praised for his versatile work style and the edginess is his projects.
