Dubai will undergo a ‘beautification’ process that will see public art installations launch across the city — the first of which is a forest under the bridge that leads to the East Crescent on Palm Jumeirah — as part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between master developer Nakheel and Brand Dubai (the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office).
The initiative, #DubaiSpeaksToYou, aims to implement art projects across the city to help realise the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform the emirate into an open-art art museum.
Beneath the bridge, the pillars have been decorated to look like tree trunks, with their bushy leaves merging into one long carpet supporting the base of the road.
“Our cooperation with Brand Dubai will enhance the aesthetic environment in the destinations we have developed, and support Nakheel’s own efforts to provide the best services to customers,” said Nakheel chairman Ali Rashid Lootah.
“We are honoured and proud to be part of this initiative by drawing on the region’s best artistic talent to bring this unique feature to Palm Jumeirah. This new work of art that forms part of this project will provide another attraction for residents and guests at our flagship project.”
