$100m Pointe Palm Jumeirah Project underway this month

Work on designs for new projects from RSP Architects, Planners and Engineers on The Palm Jumeriah, Dubai, is set to start later this month.

A $102m contrcat from developer Nakheel has been awarded to Gulf Technical Construction Company (GTCC) to build The Pointe, which will be located at the tip of The Palm, opposite Atlantis, and is scheduled for completion in 2016.

RSP has also completed designs for a new shopping mall on The Palm.

GTCC, a subsidiary of Dubai-based Drake & Scull, is set to start work before the end of this month

The project was established to provide a major shopping centre for the thousands of residents of the man-made project, which do not have one close by at present.

The 136,000m2 project will include a range of shops, restaurants and entertainment facilities as well as a fountain display.

The Pointe will be accessible by the Palm Monorail which will be connected to the mainland tram currently under construction.

It will also be served by water taxis from nearby hotels.
