Areen to design Jeddah KAIA Airport interiors

Areen will design the interiors of  King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA), Jeddah, as well as other infrastructure projects including hospitals, universities and commercial buildings in Saudi Arabia.

Thanks to a hike in big win contracts, the London-based firm recently hired 70 additional employees.

“The scale and prestige of our current projects has enabled us to embark on a significant recruitment drive over recent months, which has helped us maintain and improve our talent pool,” Trevor Cotterell, MD, Areen.

“Projects the size and scale of KAIA Airport alone require dedicated teams that can embrace the challenge, maintaining momentum throughout and most importantly – deliver on time and on budget.”

Areen’s remit for KAIA Airport incorporates the interior design and procurement management of the whole project’s interior finishes including ceilings, claddings and signage through to furniture in all areas.

The 690,000 sq m airport includes an airside hotel, four airport lounges, retail areas, a mosque and a transport hub with a railway station.

The airport has been designed to provide a gateway to Jeddah and the Holy City of Mecca and when complete will handle 30 million passengers per year.
