Salim Hussain leaves Atkins to join Archcorp in Dubai
Leaving his three-year post as principal architect at global architecture firm Atkins, Salim Hussain has now joined Dubai practice Archcorp as lead architect.
"Archcorp is a multi-disciplinary company of a scale that can handle major project, while at the same time having a friendly, family culture," said Hussain. "The 'flat structure' allows everyone to have a voice, as well as direct access to the decision makers."
He added, "There is also a focus on implementing home-grown technology solutions to improve workflow for all disciplines, which is quite unique in the profession. All of this also allows me to be much more hands-on as a designer."
Hussain will be working on various projects, including masterplanning, residential (villa developments and high-rises), and cultural. He will also be designing corporate work for large government entities.
"My vision is to produce world-class architecture in a collaborative environment enabled by technology," he said, "and to have fun while doing it."
Janus Rostock, former head of masterplanning, urban design and architecture, also recently left Atkins after 12 years with the company. He is now head of design, planning and economics at Aecom.
“I have been at the same company for 12 years and therefore I thought it was time to disrupt myself a little bit and try something different," Rostock said. "I have been fortunate enough to have had roles that were changing almost every three years so it was very good timing for me to be approached by Aecom."
