Combining an appreciation of the aesthetics of design and in particular the use of subtle Arabic influences with the ability to design mega projects Raj Patel is also at the forefront of a company which highlights sustainability.
With more than 20 years’ experience in the UAE Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Tunisia, India, China, South Korea and the US his projects includes high-rise commercial, residential and mixed-use projects, hotels, universities, schools, headquarters buildings, and large-scale masterplans.
A source of inspiration to many of the younger generation Patel joined KEO International Consultants in 2001 after six years of experience with firms such as Skidmore Owings & Merrill, Perkins & Will, and Charles Correa.
He obtained a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Cincinnati in 1993 and a Master of Architecture degree from Yale University in 1997.
His interest in the culture and the spirit of architecture during his educational years was mixed with the realities of building mega scale projects during his professional career creating an understanding of the integration of the architect’s responsibility for creating spirit within the work and the client’s financial motivation.
Patel has put together a team at KEO which combines modern and large scale projects with traditional aspects of form and pattern. The company is also at the forefront of the region’s sustainable design and the architect himself as a strong commitment to bringing on young talent.
