Hisham Alaa designs a contemporary tropical palace in Egypt
Hisham Alaa has designed a contemporary tropical palace in Egypt, which was recently completed in collaboration with site supervisor Phenomena Studio.
Consisting of two floors, each measuring at 1,000m2, the palace contains a ground floor, gardens, formal salons, reception area, a spa, golf course, offices and service quarter, which features a kitchen and boarding for staff, in addition to more traditional residential zones such as bedrooms, dining halls and a living room.
The design of the exterior form reflects a contemporary architectural approach complete with strong finishing materials, clean lines and a neutral colour palette.
The building consists of Italian and Iranian grey travertine marble and Indian silver slates, while the interior continues with imported marble flooring and cladding, wood wall coverings and solid wood floors in private family areas.
Connecting the two floors is an elevator that offers panoramic views of the home and surrounding area, as well as a floating stairway that rests on a steel and glass bridge.
A sky-lit atrium merges the indoors with outdoors, providing natural light and life to the interior spaces.
