World's largest climbing wall in Abu Dhabi designed by Aecom operating company to open in 2020
Designed by Cansult Maunsell, an operating company based in Dubai and owned by Aecom, has designed the world's largest climbing wall in Abu Dhabi, which will open by 2020, recent reports have announced.
In addition to housing the world's tallest climbing wall (standing at 43m), Clymb Sports Facility, designed to look like a large boulder, will also include the world's largest indoor skydiving chamber (the width of which will measure at 9.75m).
Both the chamber and the climbing wall will be housed together in the futuristic multi-sided diagonal cube, which will also include retailers, food and beverage outlets and a space to host events.
In an interview with Arabian Business, Miral CEO Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi, the project's developer, announced that the building will be connected via an air-controlled tunnel to nearby attractions, allowing visitors to traverse between locations without having to step outside. The added bridge caused the delay in the project's construction, which is being handled by Zublin Construction.
According to Al Zaabi, Clymb is part of an ongoing initiative to attract more tourists to Abu Dhabi, which includes other attractions like the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Qasr Al Watan.
