SSH has been appointed as lead architects for a new luxury residential tower set for the Opera District in Downtown Dubai.
Selected by Dubai-based development company Emaar, and appointed by WSP, SSH is set to carry out full architecture services on the new development, which will neighbour the Dubai Opera.
Grande Tower will comprise a promenade level below a 78-storey high rise, complete with retail outlets and other amenities, as well as 866 apartments comprising of a mix of one-,two-, three-, and four-bedroom units and penthouses situated below the crown of the building.
The curved footprint of the building mimics the sweeping lines of the existing landscape as well as embracing the proximity of the Dubai Fountain.
The facade features a "balanced rhythm" of undulating piers and slim vertical fins which accentuate the verticality and elegant aesthetic of the tower, all the way up to its crown.
"The tower will be a significant addition to the Downtown Dubai skyline and will become a contributing and symbolic landmark in the development of the Opera District," said Michael Byron, resident director – UAE, at SSH.
While various units of the tower will offer panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf and the surrounding landscape, the podium is designed to engage its proximity to the Dubai Fountain with pedestrians offered direct access to the retail units set at the base of the podium at promenade level.
The upper level of the podium will include a swimming pool and expansive deck to make the most out of the Dubai Fountain views.
The tower will also house a expanse of amenitiy space for various facilties, while the basement level is set to provide parking for residents and visitors alike.
